Picnics are a fun way to share lunch or dinner together as a family. A fun idea to try after a nice meal at the park is to create and ‘fly’ a picnic parachutes.
What you’ll need:
- A large handkerchief (or heavy paper napkin)
- String
- Scissors
- A big cork
- A thumbtack
- 10 popsicle sticks or wooden skewers (as for shish kabobs)
Instructions:
- Cut the string into four pieces about 12″ long.
- Tie one piece to each corner of the handkerchief.
- Tie the four loose ends of the strings together into a knot.
- Insert the thumb tack through the knot and push it securely in the cork.
(You may wish to pre-assemble these at home.)
To fly, hold the parachute loosely in you hand and toss it high up into the air. It should float down; just make sure the strings don’t get tangled.
