Sandpaper Boxes
  • A small cardboard box (a shirt-sized box is a good size)
  • A sheet of medium-weight sandpaper
  • Yarn
  • Glue
Glue a piece of rough sandpaper onto the top of a box. The yarn can then be used to make an outline of picture or a design on the lid. The yarn can be stored inside when not in use.

This is a great quiet-time activity and is easy to use even in the car!

Helping Hands Coupons for Father's Day
  • Construction Paper
  • Pencil and crayons
  • Stapler
Outline the child's hand four or five times on construction paper. Write on the first hand "Helping Hands Coupons for Dad." On each of the following hands, ask the child for ideas of things that they can do to help their father. Examples are: shine his shoes (especially if Mom puts on the polish first and the child can buff them with a shoeshine brush), helping to take out the trash or water outside plants, dusting his dresser or putting toothpaste on his toothbrush every night for a week, helping wash the car, a kiss and a hug. You can adapt these to the abilities of your child. The child can color the backside of every hand. Staple them together and give them to Dad for Father's Day
