What is Teach Me Mommy?

You want to spend time with your child. You know you should spend time with your child. But who has the time? What, exactly, do you do with a preschooler? Teach Me Mommy is basically everything you need to develop a loving, learning environment for your child. It’s a wonderful opportunity to spend quality time together, and Teach Me Mommy makes it easy!

The book contains 26 “theme units” or lesson plans with a beginning information paragraph indicating the skills the child will learn when studying that unit. Each unit consists of three to six days of activities, on such topics as families, food and harvest, transportation, holidays, and wild animals. You are given ideas and lesson plans for: what to talk about books to read together (that you can get from the library) songs and fingerplays crafts and activities treats you and your child can make.

Only have 20 minutes between errands? Wondering what to do with a bored child for two hours? The lessons can be as long or as short as you would like. Open the book and pick an activity or craft! You have complete freedom over your time together.

Teach Me Mommy is a terrific resource. It was developed by Jill W. Dunford, who created, tested (both with her own seven children and hundreds of other preschoolers), and refined the lesson plans for the program over the course of more than twenty-five years.
